February 17, 1970 was a horrific and heart breaking night. Police were dispatched to the scene at 3:50 A.M. Macdonald had called about a stabbing incident. When officers arrived to the scene they found Colette, Kimberly and Kristen lying on the floor dead in the family apartment in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. MacDonald claims that he was sleeping at the time of the incident and then was woken up by the sound of his wife and daughter screaming. He states that he had woken up to three intruders attacking him with an ice pick, a knife, and a club. Colette and her two daughters were found dead in their beds, and the word “PIG” was written in blood on the headboard of one bed. Jeffery was found lying on the floor next to Colette unconscious. The girls had been stabbed to death. They were all drenched in blood and so was the floor surrounding them. The stabs of Jeffrey Macdonald were very clean and sharp. We are venturing again to Los Angeles this week where 1987 graduate, Corey Jackson, works as a film and television composer. After a movie is made, Corey meets with the director of the film to “spot” the film. This is the process of deciding where music should go in the film and what emotions the music should portray. After the spot, Corey writes the music for one scene at a time. Each composition is sent to the director for approval. Corey says that the director may like it the first time or may send it back with notes and suggestions for him to try again. “Once that is completed I, with the help of my team, will record, mix and deliver the music to the dubbing stage for final mix,” says Jackson. He also describes being on the set of a movie as not glamorous, contrary to what some may think. On a constant deadline, he says working is hard, time consuming, and challenging, but working with like minded people who all have the same ultimate goal and work ethic makes it easier.…
She analyzes people’s behavioral conduct at the time of a public beheading. Whether people were watching the beheading in person or online their behaviors and emotions were the same. The evidence Larson shows is that: “…the majority of the people who come to see are either enthusiastic or, at best, unmoved. Disgust has been comparatively rare…” Today, when people watch videos of public beheadings they experience the same kind of emotions: “…the action takes place in a distant time and place, which gives the viewer a sense of detachment from what’s happening, a sense of separation.” That leads to people thinking it has nothing to do with them because it has already happened. Larson keeps on going with her appeal to…
I was very hesitant about going to see the play Steel Magnolias. I had previously seen the film, and I did not feel the play could live up to the expectations to the movie. My ideas about the play dramatically changed after I saw the production. There were a few main points of the play that I found to be important and paid special attention to. The play itself, the set, actresses, and the reaction of the audience were the topics I felt were the most important.…

What makes a documentary worth watching? Watching this documentary was the last thing from boring but, when looking at the topic you would think otherwise. “What makes a good documentary film? The essential element of a good documentary is simply, the story. The audience must have an intellectual and emotional tie to the film. The audience must have a “pull” to get to the end of the film, not an excuse to get away from it” (Dunlop 1). The science and the facts behind this are not nearly as interesting as the drama between the people, the DEP (Department of Environment Protection), the health department, the oil companies, and the government. Making the emotional ties to the people who have suffered and making a connect between stories makes it very interesting for anyone who has feelings and can sympathize with a person. The “pull” is when you find out the government, who is also in charge of the DEP, could have something to do with these incidents. These strategies make this information film easier and more enjoyable to…
3. On January 24, 1988, the victim, a young cocktail waitress, was coming home from work when, as she got out of her car, a black man pointed a gun at her face and demanded her money and her purse. She handed them over and her assailant led her from the lighted area in front of her apartment building to a darkened area at the corner of the building. He threatened her with the gun and forced her to remove her hose and underpants and proceeded to rape her. Afterward, the victim suggested they each go their separate ways and the assailant agreed. The victim watched him walk away and then ran into her house and called first her mother and then the police. Troy Webb was arrested for the crime after the victim identified a photo of him as the attacker. At trial, the prosecution presented evidence that the victim had picked out a photograph of Webb at the police station. After declaring that she was ninety-nine…
The story begins with a black and white flashback of the moment when Derek commits the murder of the two young Afro-American's. Danny wakes up to see one of the men standing by the front door but can't see whether he is armed or not. He goes to tell his brother Derek who is in bed with Stacy, his girlfriend. Derek takes a semi-automatic pistol and sees two blacks and one in the car ready for a getaway. Derek plunges out of the front door and shoots the first Afro-American several times and spots the other trying to run away. He takes aim and fires again mortally wounding the second. The car driver speeds off with Derek firing several shots at the car, emptying the magazine. In slow motion he goes back to the wounded man to finish him off and there the flashback finishes.…
When watching the video some of the causal factors that were noticed were that of a mother having a restraining order against her on again of again boyfriend. The boyfriend, who was also the father of a three year old boy that was in the home, was trying to get in through a window. When the female speaker called 911 she informed them that there was a restraining order in affect against the suspect. Even though at this time there were no signs of domestic violence taking place, the suspect had committed them before and that is the reason for the restraining order. Also, in the video a speaker named Hugh Downs talked about OJ Simpsons children and if they had witnessed any abuse happening towards their mother by the hands of their father. One child expressed how her parents are always fighting, mainly when she is in her bedroom. This little girl also was afraid that her father would kill her mother and then…
A movie like Fences only comes once in a great while. It is sort of an unconventional movie, unlike most. It is filmed almost as though it is a play, which is exactly how this film got its origins. Written by August Wilson in 1985, Fences started off as a Broadway play that ended up winning the Pulitzer Prize for Best Drama in 1987. This drama focuses on exploring the African-American experience and looks deep into the heart of race relations.…
