However, digital world and information technology, in the opinion of Turkle, not only provide us a lot of opportunities, but also pose some danger. By virtue of the latest technology the individual is constantly involved in communication, real communication, virtual and even imaginary, that endlessly expands and fills his Self (constant perception of different values, belief systems, ideas, etc.). Therefore, Identity becomes much more complex, and eventually "saturated" , “colonized” by others. Consequently, it would be logical after Grechko ask a question, whether there is actually Self under all these "strata", "layers" that came from the "outside". Hannerz suggested that the era of liquidity and diversity destroyed stagnation and brought
"desirable cultural renewal". According to Bauman liquidity is the definition of postmodern era, the main characteristic of the epoch. But in the case of potential danger of “saturation” and possibility of the dissolution of Self, we deal not with liquid identities and creative diversity, but with the danger of a complete absence of values, basis and inabilities to find any boundaries. Therefore, Self is not only constantly mutable, fluid, it vanishes, leaving behind only a mask that can be tried on and changed. It remains an open question whether this is really what needs to be celebrated, or all of the tourists, players, and strollers must find the "middle ground", cultural milestones. Are we ready to completely lose ourselves and melt into the others? This metaphor of the total dissolution into others can be found in V. Allen`s mockumentary "Zelig". The same concerns were expressed through the video installation by one of the artists in the exposition "Liquid Identities": a person removes layer by layer faces with different expressions, mostly with horror.
