Two Puppies Monologue
It was Wednesday when we saw the flyer up in Scolari's. Two puppies for sale it read. Since we moved here to Yerington, we have wanted a puppy. We wanted a big dog that we could train. What bread you may ask. We wanted a cattle dog of some kind that was really intelligent, and we got just that. Two Australian cattle dogs! We got the puppies on that next Saturday. We had no idea what the next few days would have in store. The puppies’ names were Milly and Hailee. Milly was crazy. She would run around the house while her sister would lie in her bed. We noticed that Hailee hadn't eaten since we got her so we took her to the vet. The vet said that she had parvo, a deadly disease for puppies. The vet told us to keep a close eye on her. We would have to separate the puppies so Milly couldn't get sick. Hailee would have to be fed with a liquid that would hydrate her. Parvo would severely dehydrate the puppies. We would give her the liquid through a syringe. She would get the liquid every thirty minutes. We would give it to her until she was better. …show more content…

So once I had her name I had to figure out what I was going to do with my other heifer Mady. The only thing I could think of is what if they don't get along. At first when we opened the trailer door Mady came running up like a bull in the rodeo ring, and as soon as they meet they started to buttheads. At that moment I feared that they were going to never get along, but then they started to walk around and from that point on they were best of friends. That was the day that I need to start getting ready for shows. The next day I was outside working on her feet, her hair, and how she worked with a stick. That day I realized that what doc told me was true, and that was that she has never had a person work hard as need to get her show…

When we arrived I was amazed at all the different costumes. There was a couple that had two bulldogs. The male was dressed as a gentleman, and the female was dressed in a little queen outfit. They were so amazingly cute. As me and Tailgate walked around, there was a woman that fell in love with Tailgate. She followed us the entire time, taking pictures of Tailgate. Then we entered the last building there was a woman with two Boston terroirs. They were attacking other dogs, growling, nipping. The sad thing is the lady did not stop their behavior. When we were close Tailgate hid behind my leg. I did not realize there was a couple behind me until I heard this low growl. They had a huge pit bull. The little dogs decided they were going to attack the bigger pit bull, and he let them know he was not going to back down from them. Well the lady with the two little dogs scooped up her little minions and let this gasp out. She was telling anyone that would listen how this big bad Pitbull tried to eat her babies. I was so mad. She could not control her little pups, and it took a growl from another dog, (it had to be a pit), for her to finally control them.…

Most shelters are filled to capacity and cannot accept new animals or rotate them quickly. To make room for new intakes, older cases need to be euthanized. Sometimes, this happens in a matter of days. Consider that just one hoarding case can bring in an excess of 50 animals. For smaller shelters, that may be the maximum amount they can hold at one time. While rescues, other shelters, and adopters take in some of these animals, many are left to die. Lana was taken back to the shelter by her new family. She immediately shut down and would not come out of the corner. The humane society determined that she needed to be in a foster home and they were correct. The transformation was instant. She went back to being a sweet and wonderful dog and has since been adopted. Available foster homes could help take in the overpopulation temporarily until new arrangements can be made; thus saving…

It was to be a Christmas present for my kids, an older dog, a trained dog. I knew that I did not have the patience for training and I knew that when kids say they will help; I knew exactly what that meant.…

Emergency preparedness is a shared responsibility. It is not just one particular entity that provides security and safety for the American people (Pittman, 2010). Leadership is a major aspect of emergency management. Since disasters cannot be prevented from happening, initiatives like community protection planning that includes organizing, equipping, training, and exercising must be implemented (Pittman, 2010). Homeland security, presently has the responsibility for funding, preparing and, operating emergency services that respond in the event of a terrorist attack.…
