Tybalt should be pardoned because there is a strong chance that he made bad decisions due to his brain not being fully developed (psychologically wise). For example, in the article “The Teenage Brain & Peer Pressure”, while talking about an experiment with teenagers and adults playing a videogame with their peers watching, the author Chris says “ The presence of peers activated the reward circuitry in the brain of adolescents that it didn’t do in the case of adults”(Chris). Basically in the experiment adult and teens had to play this driving game and were told to finish in a certain amount of time. When the friends of the teens were watching them they ran lights and crashed more. The explanation behind this would be the teens trying to impress their friends/prove themselves, which in Tybalt’s case is the same thing. An occasion when this happens is when Tybalt at first wanted to fight Romeo and when Romeo declined him Mercutio stepped in and challenged him. Since this fight resulted in Mercutio being killed then Romeo killing Tybalt which then got him exiled and eventually led to their deaths, but there is a strong possibility Tybalt didn’t plan on it to happen. As said in the article, teens often try to impress friends/prove themselves to or whoever is around at the moment. Seeing that Tybalt’s friends and other townspeople were around to witness what happened, so backing down would've been embarrassing and sign of
