Uber Drivers Research Paper
In recent reports, it has been indicated that Uber drivers earn about $15 to $20 dollars per hour on average. But then Uber takes a 20% cut and after that amount, they have to pay for their own fuel and vehicle maintenance. Drivers then get a small amount.

While the ride-hailing service has helped many professionals collect them from Point A and deliver them to point B, the question about giving gratuities is still confusing for some. So should you tip your Uber driver or not? According to Tech Crunch, “Tip your Uber driver. Don’t argue, just do it.”

Some passengers might think that tipping was only a courtesy for taxi drivers because they are poorly paid. This kind of thinking led them to believe that Uber drivers don’t require any tips.

You must be wondering, how on earth can an Uber driver be compared to a bartender? Two different industries, eh? But believe me, there is a common ground between these folks. Uber is an app-based tool that works wonders for passengers who prefer to hitch a ride off to their destinations via private cars, rather than to hail a cab as majority of us has been accustomed to.…

Over seven years since its launch in 2009, the growth of Uber has risen in the ranks of popular transportation services. With the company today now being valued at about 50 billion dollars, there has to be a secret in the success of the company. Co-Founded in San Francisco by Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp, Uber was created and designed to cancel out the stress of finding a taxi in a busy city and instead providing luxury car rides to riders on time and on demand. Competition between drivers are constantly increasing with the quality of rides. Drivers provide essentials like phone chargers, snacks, candy, music, tissues, and anything you can think of if you are a traveling and an on the go person.…

Rules: Both companies develop, market, and operate a mobile-app-based transportation network, which allow consumers to submit a trip request to crown-sourced taxi drivers. Although Uber is the current market leader, competitors such as Lyft are now competing aggressively to get a larger share of the market. Both companies have the choice to maintain or lower their price. Uber currently charges a $2 base fare and $1.20 per mile. On the other hand, Lyft charges $1.31 as a base charge and $1.31 per mile. We are under the assumption that both companies act simultaneously and have no means of negotiating a contractual collusion. Currently, Uber’s net revenue is at $2 billion, while Lyft’s net revenue is at $300 million.…

Uber is also known to deliberately set their fare to compete with taxi fares, and since UberX does not follow the same regulations as the taxi industry, where they do not have to buy medallions or have the same insurance requirements, they can charge costumers a much lower price then taxi industries, making UberX a “nearly perfect substitute” (Kelly, 2015; Ngo, 2015 p.39). Due to the low pricing of Uber coupled with the fast and easy method that their technology offers, Uber became a very popular rival, leading taxi drivers to confront Uber by claim that their service is “unfair competition, consumer fraud, and deceptive business practices” (Posen, 2015, p.418). The gray area Uber falls under when it comes to defining its establishment has made it legally difficult for cities to regulate them the same way they do taxi industries, creating an unequal marketplace; it is not an introduction of a new company that troubles taxi drives but their lack of regulations, and so they challenge cities to enforce equal rights. “Taxi drivers just want these new companies to follow local regulations” (Posen, 2015,…

Uber strategy comes from the transportation company’s inability to adapt with the changing times and the ability to implement technology for a better customer service experience. Uber saw holes in the current infrastructure cab system. Uber knew the rise in smart phone use was a way to create a straightforward app to provide customers with a personal way of transportation. The app solves problems from the regular taxi service unwilling to accept credit cards and more. The app allows you to pre pay without any hidden costs.
