1. Please describe how you have prepared for your intended major, including your readiness to succeed in your upper-division courses once you enroll at the university.
When I was working in Palo Alto city, having to commute back and forth during rush hour on US 101 was not fun. It kept me wondering why we still cannot solve the traffic problem, despite of many breakthrough technologies. My dream is one day I could replace the least reliable part in a car, the human drivers. Without the human factor, I believe the transportation system will become more efficient, accessible, and safer. This is what inspired and motivated me to learn Computer Science for the past three years.

After the first year, things became easier when I received a full-time job offer as an IT Analyst at a biotechnology company. Although I could better support my mother, I encountered a greater responsibility.
I underestimated the time investment in handling a full-time course load and working forty-hour a week. I spent too much time on the job that I could not keep up a good performance in school. I came to classes with tiredness and exhaustion every night. I kept making excuses for staying in my comfort zone even I clearly acknowledged my grades was going down. The peak moment occurred when I got C+ in my advanced Math class and an F in my Computer Science class.
I decided that it was time to stop. After saving enough money to settle down my mom’s staying in the US with me, I asked my boss to quit the job.
