Uchicago: The Ideal Learning Experience
My favorite thing I've heard about UChicago is it's the place "where fun goes to die." Not because I'm averse to amusing activity, but because I know this means that UChicago is a place of rigorous study. With the Common Core, excellent critical thinking skills are developed and students are enlightened to powerful ideas that mold our society. I have heard from current and past students, that it is not uncommon to walk by a lunch table and hear students fervently debating Durkheim and Marx. It is clear that UChicago is a place of constant intellectual stimulation filled with students with a deep passion for learning; as someone who continually seeks to broaden her mind, UChicago has the ideal learning environment for me.

College is about getting a degree, but staying in a library or a dorm all day is going to make a miserable four years. College is about allowing students to feel independent and to get involved, which results in living in a stable environment, as well as community engagement. Of course getting an education is prominent, but there are other essential components to a college lifestyle. In Graeme Wood’s essay, “Is College Doomed?”, he explains the diverse dynamics of the online school, Minerva. The founder of Minerva, Ben Nelson, explained to Wood that, students yearly, “attend university in a different place, so that after four years they’ll have the kind of international experience that other universities advertise but can rarely deliver” (Wood…

    U. C Berkeley Stereotypes

U.C. Berkeley: home to sun-kissed biologists and liberal student activists. These are the two main stereotypes associated with this prestigious university. While these two attributes do form much of the campus’ culture, there is so much more to be discovered at University of California, Berkeley. Situated in Berkeley, California, overlooking the San Francisco Bay, lies an urban campus with a thriving Greek life. In addition to a myriad of social and extracurricular activities, are thousands of stressed out students learning at an Ivy League caliber.…

At first, Orange Coast College offers experienced professors with different teaching methods for different learners, as well as various lectures and labs that are often transferable to other institutions (3). My older sister, who graduated from Orange Coast College and transferred to UC Irvine one year ago, tells me that I could learn to appreciate how much the professors at this school care for me compared to UC's. Plus, administrators, faculty, and staff are committed to the development of students as individuals and as citizens of the world. There's lots of resources here especially their outstanding tutoring center. I used to come here all the time when I was stuck on homework questions. Their tutors are really knowledgeable. Moreover, Student Services have always been really cool when I needed things and I think the counselors are pretty good, reliable and very helpful…

I believe that this sense of closeness is a vital aspect in an outstanding college experience. When you can actually go up to the professor with questions and they will be able to answer them, at Santa Fe you’re not just a number they look out for you. We learn most from interactions among other people, and the fact that this reputation of faculty accessibility and student involvement—both in the immediate Santa Fe community and in Gainesville exists, is very attractive to me. You not have Santa Fe but you are also there right next to the University of Florida as…

Between all of the clubs, sports, dorms, dining facilities and the gorgeous views, no other college can compare. There are over one hundred clubs available, making it easy to always have something to be involved in. The college has over eight dining facilities for students to enjoy. On Niche campus food got a 3 out of 5 and on Unigo it got a 2 out of 5. It does have many mixed reviews when it comes to the food. Some people say the food is amazing and other people say the food is not that great.…

Some people like big classes but I prefer smaller class size. The social environment of the university and class size is amazing. Fewer students per class makes it easy for me to associate with the professors at personal level. This will contribute to motivation on my side as a student. I always want to share my problems with someone who can help and this is what professors at UC will provide to me. I believe that with encouragement from professors and staff members, I will be able to better improve myself both in academic study and personal growth. Leaving the community college will provide me with an avenue to engage in research carried out in the undergraduate school which is not available in the community college. In addition, the community…

Before coming to college, I had made many naïve assumptions about Binghamton University. What if my roommate didn't like me? What if we have nothing in common? I thought long and hard about what my tiny dorm room would look like and had countless nightmares about sharing a communal bathroom. However, after arriving here, the experiences that I've made have altered my thoughts on college.…
