Holistic approach in relation to children's physical development means that a setting wouldn't expect a child to only exercise their muscles during a physical activity (running, football practise, swimming, etc). As a setting we will provide opportunities for physical development to happen holistically indoors and outdoors eg. when dancing and singing, stacking blocks, stirring a bucket of mud and water, fitting jigsaw pieces together or posting shapes into a sorter.
An holistic approach in relation to children personal, social and emotional development means that children have opportunity to socialise and express their feeling and ideas not only during specific time of day but through different activities. For example during a cutting activity we can use a messy material to cut so that the child can tell us how does it feels and can express his ideas. Or we can have an artistic activity where the children can choose a parter to help
