An event organiser needs to plan, organise and meet people when organising an event. The organiser needs to control the whole event, from planning at the start and running the event on the day. The organiser needs to have good communication skills in order to cater for the client’s needs and to give information and instructions to all members of the team. Time management is an essential skill needed from the events manager as they have to make sure the event runs on time so that people won’t complain. In some cases, things do go over time, for example, a band is running 30 minutes late so therefore the concert is running 30 minutes late so therefore the event manager may need to consider different solutions to the problem. These solutions could be for example, moving another band in their time slot. Problem solving is an essential skill needed as many problems may occur before or after the event and it is the event’s organisers role to help resolve of reduce these issues. Sometimes when planning an event, certain issues can hold back the event from happening. For our Hawaiian themed party, we will need to make sure we stay under our budget in order to make a profit. Some equipment costs more than we expect, so the event organiser will need to liaise and negotiate with other members of the team in order to buy the top priorities.
