1.1. Outline guidelines, procedures and codes of practice relevant to personal work.
There are a number of guidelines and procedures in place to enable me to do my job not only to the best of my ability but in a professional manner. Whilst at work, there are procedures that need to be followed relating to various aspects of the job including correct procedures to greet visitors, answer the telephone, dealing with incoming and outgoing mail, as other procedures. When answering telephones we must always answer it with ChromaSport football league as they are the league sponsors. When greeting visitors who are there for meetings we must politely welcome them into the office and offer …show more content…
a drink.
1.2. Explain the purpose of planning work, and being accountable to others for own work.
Planning my work at the start of the day is important because it helps me to know which work needs to be done and setting the work out in importance so I get the more important jobs done first and the least important jobs left until the other jobs are 100% complete and all done to a high standard. If my work isn’t to a correct standard or has gone over the deadline then it will affect other peoples work because my work wasn’t completed correctly or didn’t meet the deadline.
1.3. Explain the purpose and benefits of agreeing realistic targets for work.
The purpose of agreeing realistic targets for work is so I know what is expected from me when doing the work and where I need to be at the end of each day and at the end of each week. This benefits me because I have targets that I need to reach in order for my work to be completed, if I don’t meet these targets then there could be ineligible players not picked up on.
1.4. Explain how to agree realistic targets.
The way that I agree realistic targets is to talk to my boss before I start my work and see what work needs to be done and then organise the work in importance and get that work done first.
1.5. Describe ways of planning work to meet agreed deadlines.
Ways of planning my work is to set clear goals for important work by setting the work out in most important to least important and work that isn’t necessary for me to do then I would delegate to others who the work is more suitable for. Another way is to create monthly and weekly priority lists for the important work that I need to get done. I have created a daily to do list and also set times within the day to check where I am for my important work which would need to be done by the end of the day.
1.6. Explain the purpose of keeping other people informed about progress.
It is important to keep others informed about progress because it will help others know the targets that I have already met and what targets I am on target to meet; this will help others set up different objectives in order to meet targets by the end of the day. Furthermore, it also helps so others don’t start to do the same work as me and duplicate the files on the computer which would mean doing the work again.
1.7. Explain the purpose and benefits of letting other people know work plans need to be changed.
The purpose of letting others know if work plans need to be changed is because if you don’t let anyone know that you won’t be in or whether you are going to be late is so others can get my work covered until the next day or until I arrive at work this benefits me because if people aren’t covering my work then the next day I’d be catching up on the work from the day before as well as the work I get that day as well.
1.8. Describe types of problems that may occur during work.
Types of problems that may occur during my work tend to be IT based problems like the internet connection is slow or not working, scanner isn’t working correctly. This means I would have to find an alternative way to get items that need scanning to the people that need them. One way I get around this problem is to take pictures of the items and then send the pictures in an e-mail to the correct person. If there is a staff shortage then there could be work that cant be done because they are the only one who can do that specific job.
1.9. Describe ways of seeking assistance with getting help to resolve problems.
A way of seeking assistance would be to ask someone who had previously done the work and knows it all already. This can also show me how to resolve it in for future reference, if the same problem happens to happen again then I can resolve it myself. Another way to seek assistance is to search for it on the internet to find ways in solving the problem e.g. if there is a problem with one of the printers to can search the internet for ways to fix it.
1.10. Explain the purpose and benefits of recognising and learning from mistakes.
The purpose of learning from mistakes is so you can learn how to resolve that mistake yourself in the future if it ever happened again, by not making mistakes during the work that I’m doing means that I can’t learn how to resolve mistakes.
Making mistakes benefits me because if I am able to correct the mistake myself then it makes me more confident about all my other work.
2.1. Explain the purpose and benefits of agreeing and setting high standards for own work.
The purpose of setting a high standard for my work is so it will be correctly done making sure that there is nothing outstanding and that the work is all up-to-date, but always to make sure that the work is at a presentable level when others need to use that document that I had been working. The benefits of setting high standards for work is that you have a target to work to meaning the work is to the best of your ability at all times.
2.2. Describe ways of setting high standards for work.
A way of setting high standards for my working is to take my time whilst doing the work in order for me to do the work to a high standard meaning that the work will be correct. Another way of setting high standards is to compare my work to someone who done it before and if it isn’t better then improve my work in order for it to be the best and the work to be at a high standard.
2.3. Explain the purpose and benefits of taking on new challenges if they
arise.
The purpose of taking on new challenges is so you can improve in your work by picking up new skills that you haven’t used before and use them new skills in the future. The benefit of taking on new challenges is your confidence in doing your work will improve and make your work better in the future.
2.4. Explain the purpose and benefits of adapting to change.
It is important to take on new challenges and adapt to changes because it enables you to take up new opportunities that may arise for further growth. This may also help you to discover new aspects and abilities.
2.5. Explain the purpose and benefits of treating others with honesty, respect and consideration.
It is important to treat others with honesty, respect and consideration across the board from management to entry level employees as this should ensure that you are treated in the same way. Regardless on whether you like your colleagues.
2.6. Explain why own behaviour in the workplace is important.
The way you behave in the workplace is important because you have to work with others there, or with customers of your employer. unpleasant behaviour will make co-workers less willing to work with you effectively. Inappropriate behaviour to or in front of customers may drive them away from the business or impair the reputation of the company. Such behaviour can also get you fired if it lasts long enough and is bad enough.
2.7. Describe types of behaviour at work that show honesty, respect and consideration and those that do not.
The types of behaviour that show you are honest, respectful and considerate include good listening, effective communication, and teamwork. Others are offering accurate and clear information to other people in a way that meets their needs and taking responsibility for your actions. The behaviours that don’t show this would be not to listen, not to communicate and not to work with others. You can show positive behaviour at work by doing the work and keeping your head down and not to get in trouble with the management team.
