|businesses are needed to create the jobs to replace those that are being lost in the declining manufacturing sector. |
|The local authority has recently completed a new out-of-town business park. You have been allocated to a small team investigating ways of encouraging the |
|development and success of this new business park. The aim of this park is to locate more high-tech businesses on a site with good access to roads and rail |
|network. You are to give some presentations to business managers. As a part of this work, you have been asked to include examples of the kinds of business |
|activities that can be helped by using the web. |

|You should describe how the internet works by summarising the basic processes. This should cover: |

|internet protocols — such as HTTP and TCP |
|the domain name system |
|the W3C (the World Wide Web consortium) |
|Networks of PCs — types and purposes. |
