Are unemployed recovering addicts more likely to relapse after the completion of outpatient treatment if their facility did not offer job assistance or any type of career services?
Ho: Relapse rates of patients of facilities that offer career services and job placement show no marked difference when compared to the mean of relapse rates for this entire population.
Ha: Relapse rates of patients who completed a program that offered career services and job placement assistance are lower than the known population mean.
The relapse rate as offered by The National Institute of Health on the drugabuse.gov website lists a range of 40-60% when considering both drugs and alcohol. I believe the specified range would be the confidence interval as determined by NIH.
Develop a Research Question to Compare Dependent Means: In your area of psychology, formulate a research question that can be addressed using a paired data t-test. Describe the type of data you would collect and why they are paired data. State your null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis.
Will relaxation techniques such as meditation and breathing exercises done as a class before an exam alleviate the level of anxiety felt by test takers who exhibit test-taking anxiety and panic?
I would collect data in the form of interviewing these test takers before the exams are scored. I am interested in how they would gauge their anxiety level during the regular exam in comparison to the one that began with relaxation techniques. Since I am measuring and determining two means here that are linked together for this test, the means/data are considered “paired”.
Ho: Test takers will feel similar anxiety levels
