1.2 ANALYSE HOW POLICIES, PROCEDURES AND PRACTICES IN OWN SETTING MEET HEALTH, SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS
By having policies and procedures in place at the home it protects all service users and staff. Our policies and procedures are regularly updated and reviewed to support the implementation of legislation and CQC regulations, requirements and recommendations. I.e The Regulatory Reform (fire safety) order (FSO) 2005 has now changed and after a recent visit from the fire safety officer I have updated the Fire Risk Assessment accordingly and implemented any improvements that recommended.
By carrying out the Fire Risk Assessment it highlights any risk areas and plans can be put into place to minimise any risks to service users and staff. Staff are always informed of any changes made to any policies and procedures and are given regular training to maintain up to date knowledge. This enables us to do a better job of caring for the service users and to keep them safe.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have changed their system of registration and all policies and procedures have been reviewed and updated to comply with the regulations of the Health and Social Care Act 2008. I.e the Complaints Policy has new contact information, all staff and service users have been informed of this and all service users have been issued with new copies of the Complaints Policy with all the updated information.
As a manager I require all my staff to be up to date and familiar with the new regulations. This enables my staff to do a better job and provide a safe and secure working environment.
