Is killing a friend for revenge worth that much? Edgar poe effectively attempted to create a “unity of effect” in “The Cask of Amontillado” because in this short story everything that was stated is contributed to the overall ironic effect. So within these ironic effect, it causes the reader to feel the emotion of a mysterious and frightening suspension through usage of the setting, plot and the mood that the author have set for the readers.”The cask of Amontillado is a story of revenge and grudges the reader isn’t told specifically exactly what Fortunato did to warrant his vengeance.
