Unpaid Paternity Leave
I believe that all men should take paternity leave, a lot of men do get paternity leave but most of the companies that offer paternity leave don’t offer paid paternity leave and some don’t give the men near as long as women get. Washington, New Jersey, and California are the states that have paid paternity leave. In California a man can take up to six weeks at partial pay. Companies that do allow men to take unpaid paternity leave have to let the person come back with the same job, pay, and seniority as one person left the company. When a person in with the highest pay and the highest rank may not be eligible for paternity leave no matter if it is paid or not, because it could cause economic harm to the company. You can use your unpaid leave

There can be many cons to taking a paid paternity leave, but in the long run the family will benefit from the father taking off that time at the beginning after a birth or adoption. The possibility of losing a job is a legitimate concern, but when the father returns to work it will be easier for the father to balance out the workplace and family. The other concern of social judgement is also understandable, but the choice to take that leave to be able to spend time with the child and spouse will ultimately benefit everyone in the situation. Paid paternity leave, when added to paid maternity leave, will have the ability to keep the family financially stable while the family recuperates to the new life of having a child.…

A father should get paternity to leave for very important reasons. He’ll be able to help the mother keep her stress level down and do daily tasks. The father shouldn’t have to miss important things going on during and after the pregnancy, nor would he want to. Also if a father-to-be gets paternity leave the mother will have him there to help her heal, rest, and recover from going the pregnancy and having the baby. According to Evelyn Nakano Glenn in her piece, From Servitude to Service Work: Historical Continuities in the Racial Division of Paid Reproductive Labor, reproductive labor “includes activities such as purchasing household goods, preparing and serving food, laundering and repairing clothing, maintaining furnishings and appliances, socializing children, providing care and emotional support for adults, and maintaining kin and community ties” (Glenn 1). However, since all of this work is mostly done inside the home without pay, it is not recognized as real work. Not only is it done without wages, it is also done mostly entirely by women. Only in “public” reproductive labor is when women get paid for doing some of these daily tasks. As noted in…

Jimmy Wayland could have been averting application for paternity leave because of the situation Sam Hyatt faced with his boss. The boss wanted Sam to take the time he requested for paternity leave, to be personal time off, time off of vacation because he didn’t want to do too much work by enabling his fatherly duties, “it’s too much paperwork” (Hochschild 1994:121). By avoiding to request for the time off, his reputation and pay were unharmed. In the short future, Jimmy found himself as a manager; he too found that there was even less family time. And despite his desire to involve himself in his family-life, he was inactive in the household and his child’s life, and ended up as a long-hour…

Before the birth control pill, most men planned on getting an education and then having a family and working while their wives took care of the children. Many people are now getting married later than in the 1950’s and are more likely to get a divorce (Lundberg). Since women are now better educated and are also being hired for better jobs, they can now provide for their families. Some men no longer have to be the provider for their family; they can now be stay at home dads or choose a different career. Before there was no discussion on who took care of the children at night for many families but these views have changed and there are some stay at home dads. Some stay at home dads are often thought of as “losers” and most people think that they got fired and they are looking for job. In some cases people think that women with “man” jobs are great but not of men with “women” jobs.…

Anyone could argue about child support, but who has to pay is determined by a judge in court. What I don't understand about why some women file for it, like the ones' who has all these kids and don't have a job or don't want a job, but wants money. Women who don't have jobs, but has their hair and nails done, and talk about their kids needs clothes and diapers. Women who don't want the father to take full responsibility for their child or children, but will let them get their child or children if they give them some money when they get their checks cashed. I feel that if a child's father is doing his part as a father why put them on child support. If the father offers to take care of the child or children until the mother…

As the literature on work–family conflict grows and absenteeism increasingly comes into the spotlight, one cannot help but ask the question: “What is an acceptable absenteeism rate and how can an organisation control and manage absenteeism?” With current absenteeism rates as high as 12% and with an estimated R12 million lost per annum because of absenteeism, the idea of an on-site employer-sponsored childcare facility seems viable.…
