over quality situation. A workplace is an environment that needs to be molded and maintained by strict regulations and policies that list and explain all possible consequences if violated. The policies should be followed by all employees including higher officials. Policies are in place in order to maintain a professional and healthy work environment, it is extremely important to follow the policies appointed to maintain order and discipline.
Forms of bullying and intimidation are a major issue in many work environments, these acts are done not only by fellow employees but also by higher officials such as managers.
Bullying being such a hot topic throughout the states made it even more alarming when statistics were drawn,” 35 percent of the work force have fallen victim to this alarming trend’’ (Smith, 2013). Bullying and intimidation is an ineffective approach to properly running a corporation and policies should state that it is not tolerated by any means. People often fail to realize the long term effects of bullying therefore have no regard to the offense, individuals who violate the no bullying policy should be reprimanded and removed from their position to eliminate the chances of escalating within their workplace. No employee should ever be victimized in this sense in any situation, it is a sign of weak leadership within the organization if this was to be allowed to …show more content…

Conflict is a natural occurrence for human beings, especially in a work environment. We often have a lot of differences but the way we handle our differences can determine our level of professionalism (Belak, 2004). People will always have conflict in our personal and professional lives. When it comes to your work environment, conflict should be handled in a professional manner without creating hostility. In the event that conflict arises in a work place, the individuals involved should have their discussion behind closed door not to involve other employees, the situation should be handled in a way that all parties find a happy median, that way the situation can be resolved without further complications. When the conflict becomes uncontrollable, all parties involved should be counseled by higher officials on proper ways to resolve conflict. Work place conflict can have a huge negative impact on the process of the mission and should always be contained when necessary, company policies should state the consequences of improper conflict management in order to prevent possible break outs with in the work place.
Insubordination can be caused by stress and differences within the workplace, this act of disrespect can also lead to a hostile work environment, it is an employee's disregard of an employer's request.
Employers who plan to implement a policy on insubordination shouldn't try to codify every type of inappropriate possibility that can occur in the workplace (Mayhew, 2015), listing these possible types of insubordination will educate the employees on what insubordination is. When creating this policy, the employer needs to keep in mind a few subject to prevent insubordination, the employer must ensure the company adheres to their employees by having other policies in tact to respect their religion, holidays , and any other subjects that may result in an employee becoming insubordinate. Insubordination is extremely unprofessional and should be prevented and corrected properly. Just like with any situation all issues will be address according to the severity, employers must evaluate the problem and come up with a plan of correction, most of the time a simple warning can do the fix instead of major
consequences.
The term and meaning of unprofessionalism is not the same for everyone , in the book “Unprofessional” written by Jack Delosa, Jack describes professionalism as overrated .His view covers that you can be your own boss and makes your own rules, in a sense that completely equals the ability to be unprofessional. He does not compare unprofessionalism to being insubordinate, or being a bully, instead he states” To be unprofessional is to be real, to be true to yourself and to be unconventional in your thinking” (Delosa,2014). This thought process and idea works perfectly fine when you work for yourself, but when you work for a corporation or company it is an employee’s obligation to obey by the policies posted if the employee fails to follow policies of professionalism, they should face consequences.
The way we present ourselves in a work environment should be the way you want to be seen as a professional, at no time should you lower you standards because of a disagreement. As a professional you should always remain as such and abide by your workplace policies. Any violators of unprofessional acts in a work place should be held accountable regardless of their position in the company. The results of these acts have extreme negative effects on employees and will result in a low motivated environment followed by low production in work output. All workplaces around the globe should set forth policies to prevent unprofessionalism, and we must all encourage people to speak out when they experience unprofessional acts in order to properly handle the situation according to published policies set forward.
