Unscheduled Simulations

In my opinion, both scheduled and unscheduled simulations are needed in order to the diminish many of the risk patients and providers face in mass casualty incidents regardless of its size. Often when an simulation is scheduled many field personnel never take this it serious and only half way apply their knowledge. This in turn sends the wrong signal's to those in administration because all they see is field personnel playing and joking around with other employees instead of formulating a solution to the situation presented in a professional manner.I have also observed through my many years of service that when a simulation many of the most experienced and knowledgeable members of a service or department either call out sick or take vacation days. When events like this occur less experienced and junior members are forced to step up and assume a leadership role, but what these
Your more experienced providers tend to rise from the shadows and take on leadership roles during an incident. As these events rapidly unfold senior members often unknowingly display confidence and provide positive examples for younger, less experienced members. Through their observations and participation in simulations like these many less experienced providers will imitate the same actions and display the same manners when similar events occur in the future within their jurisdiction. This occurs most often because the more experienced providers is unknowingly pass their knowledge on to a new generation of providers in a manner that is difficult to forget. Unscheduled simulations also deliver a clear and more concise as to the state of readiness for each individual member, surrounding officials and the entire public safety community within a given area regardless of the type of service they may
