I do agree that the us vs them mentality is a destructive way of separating anybody. I get the gist though, most of us get this urge to separate ourselves from others just by a certain difference. Also these people can be overwhelmed in times of fear or danger, which keeps their minds fixed on that specific event, and causes distress to keep distance from whats happening. In life, these views make it difficult to be around new people. It fits a bit more into social awareness, as any human difference can be understood by comprehending their culture, while having sympathy and empathy for one another. This can be rather difficult for some people, due to being unfamiliar of what other people usually do, which makes it seem strange to other people. Let’s say we just had seen a different culture for the first time, we couldn’t completely identify with what they're doing, which hands the problem the a lack of empathy. This goes the same for everyone's individuality. Something that is casual for me, might come out as strange or abnormal to others, and most people don’t want to be viewed as weird, so they keep their indifferences. With less comprehension, it can cause the world to divide. An article from the huffington post, points out the various reasons why the us vs them mentality and modern superstition break the world apart. The culture in our times is the computer and religion, which today caused the start of the islamic state as it began through the internet.
