It definitely can made a big impact on them as players, and teammates. Wether it be during a practice, or a game. “The jump to varsity is something we have all been eyeing since the rebirth of our JV program in 2014. It's an exciting challenge that we will embrace and look to get better as a program over the 2017 season. Especially when it comes to getting injuries, or even being a new player on the team. Jamison Barger (9) said; “ Its been a big change, because of the speed of the game, and being on top to being on the bottom.” Our community can also make a good impression for our program. It can give the players a confidence boost to know that people come out and support them. The football program affects more than just the team, it can affect everyone around us. “ It affects everyone, especially our community, because football has been missing in peoples lives. It gives kids an opportunity to face adversity and help them in the long run in life.” Explains Hunter Myers (12) . Behind the game, what does this program mean for the team? Athletic director, Mr. Lowry, explains; “ This means state recognition, and being eligible for the tournament. We were known as the largest school, without a football team, but now we have had newscasters come in, so its gotten really big.” “Bringing football back to Scottsburg has made a positive impact on this community. It has brought a sense of pride back into our community and has allowed students another opportunity to be a part of something special.” Explains assistant coach, Allen

Indeed, arriving for a game at Allen Fieldhouse can feel like preparing to rummage through the dusty archives of college basketball. And with one of the best teams in the NCAA holding court inside, Allen Fieldhouse is all about the traditions that…

Football is becoming safer and building teamwork at the same time, if someone wouldn't let their kid play football, why would they let their child play any other sport, because no other sport is trying to become safer while keeping the game as it is as hard as football and the NFL. The 8B football team came together for another great year of footy, and pretty soon the season had started and the boys began playing it out against the other teams. The first couple of matches showed how skilled the boys could be however, it lacked that team coordination and focus. This changed however when everyone settled in and started playing as a team, and the team lifted and began winning! Pretty soon the boys were confident and were having some extremely close games. This is emphasised when the team lost by just a few points against Geelong Grammars' A team, and they play exceptionally well with both skill and team coordination, attributes which were emphasised throughout the year. As the year progressed, so did the boys and they were…

When I moved to Stroudsburg, it was a completely different atmosphere. I got here right when the new middle school was built so I was wandering through the huge school with no idea where I was. It was a weird adjustment that I had to make. I tried making friends by playing baseball for Stroudsburg’s fall ball. In Vermont, I was usually one of the best to play, but in Stroudsburg it was completely different. Everyone was good here so I couldn’t really fit in and felt like I couldn’t do it. So I found out about something called the Monroe Saints. That was the beginning of my love for the game of football.…

As the college football season begins to set in, many are beginning to count down the days until the BYU Cougars arrive here at Rice Eccles this coming Saturday. Across campus, MUSS members can be heard warming up their lungs and stocking fraternity houses in preparation for a weekend filled with festivity. Indeed, everyone on campus is anticipating the game known infamously as the “Holy War.” Following a rather tumultuous weekend filled with a handful of collegiate upsets, including the thorough annihilation of USC by the University of Alabama, coach Kyle Whittingham of Utah made a surprising announcement earlier this week. Citing his innate confidence that BYU will lose this year’s game, coach Whittingham has decided to remove modern equipment from his players, making a return to the classic leather uniforms worn throughout the early 1900’s.…

As the sun rises to its highest peak of the day, the local high school team starts heading to the dry dirt filled football field. As the athletes make their way to the field the dust rises and the smell of the soil hits their nose. The athletes continuing their daily ritual, get into their usual formations and start their warm ups. The head coach, Shane Cox, walks around and initiates small talk with the players. Shane Cox inherited the head position at Fairfax High School in 1999. He turned around a football program that hasn’t won a single football game in two years; Shane Cox has won two Los Angeles Division II City Championships in the past decade. Serving for more than 13 years, Coach Cox has contributed a lot of his time and effort into this program at Fairfax High School. A high school coach has to work additional hours during the sports season. This can result in a work week over 40 hours. Working nights, holidays, evenings and weekends are common for high school coaches. A high school coach has to be prepared to work in bad weather and be willing to travel with the team to different locations for games. They also run the risk of injury due to being on the sidelines during sports games. Although Coach Cox’s accomplishments for coaching are impressive, his accomplishments off the field are impressive as well. A football coach’s job is to not only improve his player athletically, but as a person as…
