During the initiation at Dauntless, it was more than just being strong, it was about changing yourself from the inside and out. Beatrice prior’s first thoughts when realizing she had to change was, “It will be difficult to break the habits… like tugging a single thread from a complex work of embroidery. But I will find new habits, new thoughts, new rules. I will become something else.” With doing so she started to see how scary it can be to change things that you were taught growing up. But the even scarier part is she was happy to change, the fear she was feeling motivated her to become something she always saw herself to be. With Beatrice transforming into a knew person she started realizing that the mato Dauntless followed made more sense now. “We believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives a person to stand up for another.” She understands that bravery can be seen through courage and courage comes from facing your fears. Fear is always keeping you from being what you want to become so being brave enough to stand up to your fears is changing who you are on the inside and out. She is showing that bravery is a symbol that allows her to be someone she always knew she could
