Throughout history, there have been an incalculable number of heroes; that can be through reality or fictitious. From viewing the clips from this assignments and reading various articles regarding heroism, there are multiple aspects that determine exactly what a hero should be. In regards to the Spiderman video, Aunt May explains that a hero is someone that is courageous, self-sacrificing, and sets examples for others. Likewise, an article I read describes a hero as someone who is courageous, selfless, humble, patient, and caring. In my opinion, a hero is an individual who cares more about the life of others than themselves; they would do anything in their power to protect others as well as the world around them.…

Emma Edmonds from the hometown of Saint John, Canada, was a really brave women who went out to become a soldier in the Union Army in total disguise as a man during the Civil War against the Confederates. “He pushed the enlightenment form over for her to sign. Taking the pen, Emma dipped it, remembering just just in time to scrawl Franklin Thompson” (Reit 7). The fact Emma was the first woman in the 1800s to enroll as a male in disguise in a civil war, is significantly a brave thing to do because she risked of her…

The definition of hero varies among people but, in my definition of a Hero is a person who is able to achieve the difficult task regardless of the resistance of society or sacrificing themselves in risky situations. A hero is not a person who is easily scared, gives up easily and selfish. Heroes are unbelievable! How does someone become a hero? Heroes that fly and battle crime are not actual heroes. Real heroes are people who do something heroic, unusual, or important. Heroes are people who take risks. Heroes prospect their life to do something good for us. They save us when we are in trouble, pick us up when we are down, and give us hope. They also solve problems, distribute justice, make a positive difference in the world. Harriet Tubman and Elizabeth Blackwell are heroes. These people took risks and did important things.…

Heros should be defined as people who say what they think when we ourselves lack the courage to say it. In other words, people who are not afraid to speak their minds should be considered heroes because they are fearless and have the will power to make a change. The novel, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is one such example of heroism. It takes places in Maycomb, Alabama around 1950 when segregation was still around.…

Heroes are brave. They put their life on the line to save others. An example of this happened on December 3 when state trooper Michael J. Miles saved an unnamed 3 year old boy from his abductor, Michael Ramirez, who had taken him from his home. After Ramirez escaped the police's tail on him, he ran into the North Carolina forest where “Miles used his knowledge of the area to… approach him on foot” (Hero Trooper Saves 3 Year Old After Amber Alert 1). That is bravery. He put his fears aside so he could save a little boy because he knew that by the time people would come to help it could be too late. Without Miles’ bravery, that little boy might not be alive. Bravery, however, is not the only important quality of a hero.…

Heroism can only truly be defined subjectively. Every single one of us can discover courageous qualities within any individual: it all depends on which endeavors a person finds heroic. In my opinion, a hero is someone who displays bravery or self sacrifice in the face of misfortune. They are not afraid to intervene and rectify what they see is wrong, despite the situation. Challenges may be confronted along the way, but a hero will arrive stronger than before. They will finish by attempting to or fully producing a positive impact on society. My personal role model is Elizabeth Cady Stanton, a leader of the women’s rights movement during the 19th century. She is someone who manifested all of these heroic traits by combatting the sexist ideas people had during this era. Throughout the course of her life, she shattered the expectations…

A hero is someone who cares about other people's lives than their own. Many people can call themselves a hero but don’t act like a hero. For example, in the book The Odyssey by Homer, the main character Odysseus is sailing with his men after the Trojan War, and he sees himself as a hero. On his way home from the battle a terrible storm had hit that was made by Zeus, the god of all gods, and his way home was turned into an adventure. Odysseus’ actions on the adventure makes his a very disrespectful guy, that caused his own imprisonment because he invaded Polyphemus’ cave and stayed, when he didn’t tell his men about Scylla and Charybdis when they were approaching them, and the fact that he let his men eat the sun god’s, Helios’, cattle.…
