I think of all those men and women that I had served with for the protection of our country. But to me service means taking care and respecting soldiers who fought for the United States over the years. I appreciate that my Father who served in Korean war, my four brothers including myself served in Vietnam, and my wife, younger brother including myself served during Iraqi Freedom in the Gulf War. [“that” not clear] The service of my family is important to my history, but it is more important to me to see how they are being treated now. He would never ever get a chance to use his benefits. [Even though previous sentence was correct with “and,” I’d make 2 separate sen for dramatic emphasis.] As young kids we would always talk about our dreams. heels[his name?] was going to finish college and live with his sister in Chicago. His sister went to law school and one of her little brothers was to follow her footsteps, but he never got the chance.
Working at the VA, I often talk to other veterans and state it is often so very hard for them to receive their benefits. While people often look at physical disabilities and never realize that “truth” and “heart” disabilities can’t be seen. PTSD is a very disabling disorder and most veterans often lose their family, friends, and marriages. Right now the Veterans Administration has a bold move to retrieve all the homeless and put them into shelters. My job is to rehabilitate them and
