From the viewpoint of a business person, Victoria Square is a huge opportunity for commerce and industry. There are various companies all around, and being located in the heart of the CBD, it is quite local in terms of the public. The square is also just down the road from the Adelaide Central Markets. The Aboriginal name Tarndanyangga is still used, and can be seen on the tram stop - Tarndanyangga meaning “The Dreaming Place of the Red Kangaroo". In the past, the Indigenous people gathered on the land for special ceremonies and dances. During the 1960s the Aboriginal community reintroduced its activities in Victoria Square, with the area in front of the Commonwealth Law Courts building, becoming a social/gathering point. The Aboriginal flag is flown in the square alongside the Australian flag and there are recordings that can be listened to about the history and significance of them both.
