Video Case 3
1. How does Toyota’s approach to social responsibility relate to the three concepts of social responsibility described in the text (profit responsibility, stakeholder responsibility, and societal responsibility)?
Profit responsibility- competitive forces, and economic forces.
Stakeholder responsibility- regulatory forces.
Societal responsibility- social forces.
2. How does Toyota’s view of sustainable mobility contribute to the company’s overall mission?
The overall mission is for the company to be the most respected and admired car company in America. They look at all aspects of the cars life cycle. They look at how the vehicle is manufactured, used, how it will be disposed off, and how they will use those components to make new vehicles. They also look at where the energy will come from to power the plug-in hybrids.
3. Has Toyota’s National Parks project been a success? What indicators suggest that the project has had an impact?
Yes, they have built partnerships with some of the largest and well known parks and places like Yellowstone National Park, Everglades, and the Golden Gate Bridge. They have reached more through these partnerships than they would combining advertisement, football, basketball, baseball, and soccer.
4. What future activities would you suggest for Toyota as it strives to improve its reputation?
Since they are reaching so many people through partnerships, I would suggest continuing with the present partnerships. I would also suggest more partnerships in the future. Since they don’t do as much advertising, I would suggest seeing how many more people they could reach by advertisement. I would also keep up with the environmental vision. By that and their donating I think it would definitely help keep their reputation.
