As we are not a native speaker of English language, we often admire at people who speak English fluently and assume that speaking English is something formidable and it is a skill to acquire or reach that level. But English is just a language like any other language that we already know. Any language for that matter is an Abstraction of Thought. The Purpose of any language is to communicate one’s conceived thoughts to another person effectively and understandably. This demands a good list of words in that particular language so as to express those thoughts for more clear and lucid communication. As we know, communication is a two way process. Expressing thoughts, and deciphering others’ ideas when they express it. On one hand we struggle finding the right words to express our ideas and on the other hand we struggle interpreting the meaning of words being delivered to us. Here arises the demand for accumulating more words as possible. And this applies to English also.
We call this ‘words’ with a fancy jargon called “Vocabulary” and most of us are scared of hearing this word. But once you go through this language stuff, I hope I demystify that, and you yourself will say that,
“Vocabulary” doesn’t deserve being afraid of.
Vocabulary
Vocabulary in its simplest term is ‘words’. Your vocabulary is the words you know and can use. The richer and more copious one’s vocabulary and the greater one’s awareness of fine distinctions and subtle nuances of meaning, the more fertile and precise likely to be one’s expression of thoughts. Also, the more extensive your vocabulary, the better are your chances of success. Improving vocabulary becomes very easy and enjoyable if you are really committed to do that. Here we present a comprehensive list of strategies and tools that would help you improve your vocabulary on a faster rate.
