Starting out primarily as an independent record label, WMUM has been representing local bands and facilitating their CD releases since its inception in 2000.
Aside from the label, WMUM also runs a music shop in the western part of Singapore.
The indie and unpretentious one-stop music hub sells (among other things) guitar gear, CDs from local, regional and international indie bands, band merchandise, and other vintage items. The shop also offers services like t-shirt printing and button making. WMUM also houses a jamming studio, which has proven to be popular with professional musicians and budding wannabes alike.
With a current network in Malaysia, WAKE ME UP MUSIC hopes to branch out further into the rest of Asia, and possibly Australia. WMUM aims to place Singapore on the world map of indie music through its emphasis on showcasing local bands, while documenting the Singapore music scene's journey and growth.
It's about time we WAKE UP to some good music!
