Almost all of these cases were related to young children before or in their critical period to acquire a language. Therefore, there are people who claim that watching American movies actually facilitates Second Language Acquisition (SLA) of English, especially in the aspect of speaking. From these cases, one can question: Will watching movies have the same effect on people with older age? This study investigates and aims for a conclusion on whether watching American movies truly facilitates SLA for Korean college students as it does for Korean children in the aspect of speaking or not; it focuses only on the aspect of English speaking.

This may differ from person to person; however, listening to actual colloquial conversations in the movies will help the learner to easily absorb the culture, accent, and flow of the English language and strive toward becoming a near-native speaker of English. Through watching American movies, the participants will have the opportunity to learn practical English, instead of the stiff and formal English learnt from the textbooks that are used at school and English
