We Are All Like This To My Sister-In-Law, Gabi
I decided to read chapter 5 of the book “We Are All Like This” to my sister-in-law, Gabi; this chapter talks about boundaries.
Why did you choose this topic? The reason why I selected this topic is because my sister-in-law is in a relationship right now, and I assumed that this topic could be something of her interest because it focuses on the boundaries of sexually. Also, she does not have kids at the moment and discussing about this topic could provide her with some tools.
How did the person you read the topic to react? My sister-in-law seemed a little embarrassed talking about this topic with me. She got shy at times, however, after discussing it for some time, she seemed more comfortable. She was surprised that I was open to talk about
sexual boundaries since her parents never have.
How did you feel about reading this topic to your partner?
I felt comfortable reading this topic to my sister-in-law because I have known her since she was 5-years-old. I was glad that I had the opportunity to discuss the topic of boundaries with her because it allowed me the opportunity to open a subject that is rarely talked about with family members.
What did the two of you discuss after you read this topic?
We talked about the importance of respecting other people’s boundaries as stated in the chapter. We agreed that people have sexual boundaries based on their culture or ethnicity. In addition, we discussed about how important it is to know our own boundaries when it comes to our own sexuality so we can know where to draw the line fo our boundaries.
