1.Shame If the client is ashamed to share his or her problem to caregiver it would create barrier and healthcare worker will not be able to gather the important information. It would affect client`s overall well-being as physician will not have the exact knowledge of what patient is thinking and suffering from as an outcome the patient will not be provided with much needed proper attention.

It allows the client to speak all their concerns to caregiver which results in better treatment. Some patient may feel awkward to answer personal questions in one to one consultation so caregiver must ensure that a patient is comfortable and ready to discuss his problem.
2.Group consultation with a health worker In some cases sufferer may not feel secure in sharing his personal problems and information with a group of lesser known people. Client may not be ready to share his health concern in front of his family as he does not want them to be worried. Healthcare giver should first make sure that client is ready and pleasant to be a part of group discussion. In other scenario a patient may find support of the people around him and this could result in more clear idea about his health condition to physician.

Knowing what Whakama can lead to helps the care provider to be thoughtful and treat the client with esteem. Client may feel it difficult to speak out their true feelings and problems which could lead to isolation of patient. It could also affect their mental well-being.
Tikanga Best Practice Guidelines are followed by the physicians which includes taking care of others, hospitality, greeting in Maori, keeping the communication open to whanau all this helps to build a good understanding with the Maori patient. Sufferer may not be able to trust the physician completely which creates doubt in his/her mind regarding the therapy being given .Therefore an individual may not truly open up about their intuitions to care provider.
