My essay is on Benjamin Britten. Benjamin had many, many, many accomplishments in his life time. He was a famous english composer, conductor, pianoist; and one of the central figures of Twentieth century music. What is he famous for, you ask? Well, he wrote a famous piece of music called, the Epic War Requiem. While his father was a prosperous oral surgeon in the town of Lowesoft, Soffolk. While his mother was a leader in a local choir society. I think that Benjamin takes more from his mom than dad because he is a choral composer and likes music like his mom does, but his dad is and oral surgeon so i think it is more of the moms side. Benjamin as you know, attended Royal College of Music. Before he started writing music , at the age of 10 he took violin lessons with one of his mom’s friend. I didn’t mention this but he had 3 siblings; Charlotte Elizabeth Britten, Edith Barbara Britten, and Robert Harry Marsh Britten. Benjamin was actually the youngest out of the four children he lived with. His mom and him were the only people i his whole family who loved music. His two sisters were indiffernet to music. Actually, when he was about three months old, he had a bout of pneumonia, which almost killed him. He had a astonishing recovery, it still left his heart weak. He also loved playing tennis and cricket. And his favorite subject to learn in school was Math. This is about his early career. When he finished college at RCM, Benjamin returned to his hometown, Lowestoft to write 8 pieces of music that he had written for piano. His music pieces were actually performed as “Simple Synphony Op 4’ in the Stuart hall with him conducting the orchestra for his songs. In 1937, he met his inspirations under his music, the english tenor Peter Pears. He wrote songs for radios, films and some of the ones he did was; ‘King Arthur’, ‘The Sword in the Stone’, ‘The Ascent of F6’, etc.He also wrote some of the music with partners
