First, both sets of standards indicate that students will learn from texts, such as nonfiction and fictional books. Another thing that is similar between the two is the fact that both standards state that the students will learn Language Arts by using a variety of strategies, including phonetic principles, prior experiences, and textual features. The use of these different strategies is not only used during their reading, but through their writing as well. Both sets of standards include the fact that students will be able to use the appropriate oral language according to their audience as well as for their purpose of speaking.
