What Are You Afraid Of Matthew Huston Analysis
In the article "What Are You Afraid Of?" and "Conquering Fear" by Matthew Hutson there is a question raised. How does Eleanor Roosevelts quote, "We gain strength and courage and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face" (Roosevelt) apply to Kyle and Miobe? It applies to Kyle because he faced his fear. "Kyle's treatment when he was greeted by a man carrying a bunny costume. Kyle started to panic but didn't run away. He knew he had to face his fear...Eventually Kyle relaxed" (Hutson). This shows that Kyle faced his fear just like in Roosevelts quote. It also relates to Miobe because he had courage and confidence. "'I must conquer my fear' he said and he set off. He remembered the days when he had been afraid.

On March 4, 1933, President Roosevelt said to the the American people, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” This quote means that if you are overcome by fear, it will make the situation you’re in harder. When I read this, I say that I agree with our former president. When looking at the stories and article, “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street,” “Three Skeleton Key,” and “Stepping it Up,” they show us that fear is our worst enemy when you are overcome by it.…

Chapter ten states, “And yet it stirs no fear within our heart, but only silent reverence and pity” (Rand 93). Through the experiences of Equality 7-2521, he was able to overcome his fear. He was able to use all the things he had learned over a period of time, and create his own thoughts on life. He knew the importance of fear, and how too much of it can hold you back. In addition, “International 4-8818 and we are friends. This is an evil thing to say… we cannot look upon [him] and not smile in answer” (Rand 29). Equality 7-2521 has overcome fear through friendship. It is a very forbidden act, yet Equality 7-2521 lets himself waver from the rules. This friendship is what helps him grow in strength and become more brave. Going above and beyond fear adds to the motif of…

In the American history Presidents from Roosevelt to Obama have noted or said something about fear. This is because feeling free from fear would better any country. Though we all may have it in common, the word “it” can mean a lot of different things. A struggle to speaking inspirationally about this topic is connecting everyone's fear, from the poor to the rich and those in between. Rarely is there one topic that everyone fears and this is because we are all struggling in our own ways. The rich might need to worry about where…

But becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. it's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it, that's the point. King once said that “by bringing our fears to the forefront of consciousness, we may find them to be more imaginary than real” and that “more often than not, fear involves the misuse of the imagination.” This couldn’t be further from the truth. We are human, and experiencing fear is a natural event; this is why courage requires fear, because we cannot escape the feeling.
