On March 15th Tsar Nicholas Romanov II Abdicated from the throne for both himself and for his son Aleksey and his brother didn’t want the throne so he had to abdicate for all three of them, but why did he abdicate and what factors influenced abdication. The Romanovs had been ruling for over 300 years with every leader ruling a little bit differently, but Tsar Nicholas wasn’t the best leader and was weak at leading which led to revolutions as the people believed that they could make a difference. World War 1 was going on at the time as well as their being strikes and riots in Petrograd and the provisional government trying to take over Russia.

After the first Duma on the 8th July 1906 the Tsar thought it was too radical and was closed but on the 30th January the very next year the Tsar let them hold another, but the Tsar thought the Duma was still too radical and closed it down on the 3rd June 1907. The third Duma started on the 1st November 1907 and this time they stuck to the agenda and behaved themselves. Then when the war started and Germany declared war on Russia and with the Tsar gone to lead his troops into war the Duma was left alone to do what they wanted without the Tsar saying they are being too radical. The government was being led by the Tsarnia’s favourite father, Gregory Rasputin who wasn’t liked by very many people and by February 1917 a few months after Rasputins murder the government was in chaos. While the government was in chaos the army had left the Tsar, which meant that the riots weren't being controlled and the government lost control of the country and on the March 13th the Duma left the Tsar and asked him to abdicate which he later did.
