Writer’s Checklist for Cause and Effect Essay
1. Have I identified the cause or effect I am analyzing in my thesis? I feel that I have identified the cause and effect of insomnia and how it effects mental health in my thesis. The idea was to explore the causes of insomnia and how it effects a person’s behaviors and way of thought.
2. Have I explained the cause-and-effect relationship convincingly? I believe so yes. I feel that after going over the different causes of insomnia I touched on what it can do to a person’s life. Causing trouble with socializing and concentration.
3. Have I organized my causes and/or effects logically? Yes, first I went over what insomnia was, the causes of insomnia the effects it has on a person’s everyday functioning and then I went on to explain the treatments for the disorder.
4. Have I used sound logic? Yes, after going through all of the main points of the essay I made sure everything was backed up by my resources and that everything was cited in source correctly.
5. Have I concluded my essay effectively? Yes, I feel my conclusion tied back into my introduction by talking about the treatments of insomnia and how hard it is to cope with the disorder but, that there are ways to manage the symptoms and make sure it doesn’t interfere with most of a sufferer’s daily life.
6. Have I proofread thoroughly? I hope so, I have trouble proof reading sometimes but I read and reread aloud several times making sure everything made sense and was easy to follow. That everything was cited correctly and that the paper flowed together smoothly.
