What Causes Ponyboy To Face The Police?
1. Describe the differences in the settings of the novel.

The differences in the settings of the novel is that it changes from a violent setting, on to a peaceful setting as the novel progresses. for example, in the beginning of the text, It starts off with Ponyboy getting mugged by the Socs, but then progresses on to understanding a theme that lies beneath the text. It then ends with Pony writing in his english class about his past experiences.

2. Explain the situation at the Curtis home.

Darry is the one taking care of the two curtis brothers. After his parents died in a car crash, he took the responsibility of raising his two brothers, having two jobs, and his association in the greasers gang, which shows all the hard work he has been doing.

How does Bob Sheldon die?

When a bunch of drunken Socs approach ponyboy and johnny, Pony spits on them after they harass him. Bob sheldon and some other socs beat up Johnny and Pony, but bob ends up drowning him in a fountain. As johnny lies anxious and afraid, he confronts Bob, and stabs him. accidentally killing him.

4. What causes Johnny and Ponyboy to come back to face the police?

Johnny and Ponyboy came back to face the police because johnny wanted to tell the police that it was self defense(that he killed Bob Sheldon).In the text it states, "I got a good chance of bein' let off easy," Johnny said desperately, and I didn't know if it was Dally he was trying to convince or himself. "I ain't got no record with the fuzz and it was self-defense.” he also said that he “didn’t want to stay in the old church forever”.
5. How does Ponyboy recover from his friends’ deaths?
Ponyboy felt nauseous and sick, due to the fact that he missed Johnny, but he contemplated a little bit on his loss. In the beginning, he had a hard time accepting that johnny is dead. He recalls just recently that Johnny told him to stay golden.

6. Explain how Johnny’s letter helps Ponyboy see the gang situation more
