What Defines Character
HOW OPINION AND CHARACTER CAN INFLUENCE OUR SOCIETY.
What is opinion? Let us begin by understanding the meaning of opinion and character,
Opinion can be defined in many ways; Wikipedia defines opinion as a belief about matters
Commonly considered to be subjective i.e., it is based on that which is less than absolutely
Certain, and is the result of emotion or interpretation of facts. An opinion may be supported by an argument, although people may draw opposing opinions from the same set of facts.
Opinions rarely change without new arguments being presented; Collins dictionary defines opinion as belief, feeling, view, idea, theory, notion, conviction, point of view, sentiment, viewpoint, persuasion, conjecture.

Character can be defined as personality, nature, make-up, cast, constitution, bent, attributes, temper, temperament, complexion, disposition, individuality, marked traits
(Collins dictionary) or can also be defined as the aggregate of features and traits that form the individual nature of some person or thing.

How do our opinions define us, let us try to integrate some of our opinions and the Christian
Perspective, i will discuss 3 topics namely forgiveness, Leadership, Poverty and Wealth as i believe they will cover some of the most common issues affecting our society in general.
FORGIVENESS
It is not uncommon for Christians to have questions about forgiveness. Forgiveness does not come easy for most of us. Our natural instinct is to recoil in self-protection or anger when we've been injured. We don't naturally overflow with mercy, grace and forgiveness when we've been wronged. We want to revenge
Is forgiveness a conscious choice, a physical act involving the will, or is it a feeling, an emotional

state of being? The Bible offers insight and answers to these and many more questions about

forgiveness.

According to the Oxford Dictionary, the definition of forgive is to stop feeling angry or resentful toward someone for an offense, flaw, or mistake. However, there is a deeper meaning to this. Contrary to some of Harold S. Kushner’s statements, I believe that forgiveness is as beneficial for the victim of the crimes as it is for the offender. In fact, I am far more inclined to agree with Jose Hobday’s views. He states that…

    - Everyone has attitudes and beliefs that they value. Many of these are instilled in us from a very young age. The way we are raised and the behaviours we are shown whilst growing up and developing will have a strong influence on the attitudes and opinions we are likely to form. Some attitudes and beliefs will also come from their own experiences. Attitudes and opinions can be very personal just as a person’s beliefs are. Many…

Defining something that cannot be seen or touched is not an easy task; that is why many aspects of definitions, at times even the wording, have been matter of debate. The concept of "an attitude" is problematic and it should not be assumed attitudes are always present (Kremer, Sheehy, Reilly, Trew and Muldoon, 2003). In fact there are issues towards which we do not have an attitude, other times we may have an attitude about something but behave in a completely unrelated way and other times we focus on our behaviour to subsequently formulate an attitude. The theories that will be explained have tried to shine light on as many of these possibilities as possible. These approaches all share…

Contrary to knowledge, ignorance is based on what is not, or untruths. Opinion represents all that remains, therefore opinion is both what is and what is not. The opinion represents all truths other than the eternal unchanging forms. Those who love merely sights and sounds cannot obtain knowledge, for they do not recognize the forms in the sights they see, but only the sights themselves. These lovers of sights and sounds instead have opinions.…
