2. Explain why reflecting on work activities is an important way to develop own knowledge and skills (2.2.1)
- Reflecting on activities from work and also other places is a great way to develop the things that you know, and also discover what you don’t know, allowing you to set your mind on ways to develop your knowledge and fill in any gaps in your knowledge. Learning to properly reflect on what has happened is in the past is one of the most valuable personal skills, and it’s a way that an individual can develop themselves without the need for textbooks and training, merely learning not to repeat mistakes you’ve made, and recognising actions as mistakes in the first place goes a long way to making a person more efficient at their job role. It’s important to access the skills you have, and also the skills you lack to know where improvement is needed, and knowing exactly what you want to learn is useful in reducing the time necessary in producing a new skill.
3. Describe ways to ensure that personal attitudes or beliefs do not obstruct the quality of work (1.1.3)
- Everyone has attitudes and beliefs that they value. Many of these are instilled in us from a very young age. The way we are raised and the behaviours we are shown whilst growing up and developing will have a strong influence on the attitudes and opinions we are likely to form. Some attitudes and beliefs will also come from their own experiences. Attitudes and opinions can be very personal just as a person’s beliefs are. Many people take their religious beliefs very seriously especially about what their religious beliefs say about the way people should dress, eat, behave and what is right and wrong. Although everyone is entitled to have their own opinions and beliefs it is important that they do not have a negative impact on a person’s work. In the workplace you are unlikely to agree with all of the attitudes and beliefs of all the people you work with both adults and children.
4. Describe how a learning activity has improved own knowledge, skills and understanding (2.2.1)
Learning activities can improve an individual’s knowledge skill set and understanding by providing you with new ideas, such as something you may have never encountered before. Learning activities also give the individual new areas of learning, such as subjects and topics that you may have not previously covered. And coursed on things that make the job easier, or even legally required courses that produce great new areas of learning that allow you to perform your job role, such as manual handling or health and safety issues.
5. Describe how reflecting on a situation has improved your own knowledge, skills and understanding (2.2.2)
- Reflecting on activities from work and also other places is a great way to develop the things that you know, and also discover what you don’t know, allowing you to set your mind on ways to develop your knowledge and fill in any gaps in your knowledge. Along with having knowledge and skills, knowing how and sometimes more importantly when to use them is just as important, such as recognising how we behave or the certain ways in which we perform tasks. It’s important to access the skills you have, and also the skills you lack to know where improvement is needed, and knowing exactly what you want to learn is useful in reducing the time necessary in producing a new skill.
6. Describe how feedback from others has developed own knowledge, skills and understanding (2.2.3)
- Having feedback from others and being willing to listen to that feedback, as well as use it to your advantage is a huge part of self improvement, and plays a massive role in developing your knowledge, skills and understanding of certain things. Feedback can increase your problem solving capabilities by allowing you to take in a situation from another’s perspective, and approaching a previous problem in a way that you have discovered by listening to others, they will tell you their perspectives and how they might deal with a situation in a more appropriate way.
7. Define the term ‘personal development plan’ (3.3.1)
- Personal development planning is the process of creating an action plan based on awareness, values, reflection, goal-setting and planning for personal development within the context of a career, education, relationship or for self-improvement.

- The benefits to having personal development plans in place include focusing on what an individual wants to achieve and how to achieve it, to develop greater self awareness of training needs, increasing the understanding of how to meet those needs, and it provides evidence to show how and what approach was taken in the attempt to improve your own knowledge and understanding.
Once you have completed, your Learning Advisor will be able to cross reference some knowledge into UNIT 4222-202 of the diploma.

Reflective Practice is concept developed by Donald Schon. There are also several models of reflection used to draw lessons out of experiences. In 1978 Argyris and Schon established the idea of single loop and double loop learning. In the former concept the organization or the individual follows the current techniques or strategies even after corrections are made to the current errors.
