1. Define the following types of abuse: (1.1.1)
a. physical abuse - hitting, punching, etc.
b. sexual abuse- touching, assaults, rape, exposure to porn
c. emotional/psychological abuse- threats, bullying, verbal insults, etc.
d. financial abuse- taking money, withholding money
e. institutional abuse- where a company or organisation is arranged in a way that abuses an individual or group due to processes or policies
f. self-neglect - not washing, eating, socialising, etc.
g. neglect by others- as above, where you are unable to manage yourself
2. Identify the signs and/or symptoms associated with each type of abuse (1.1.2)
Physical abuse: bruises, fear no interact with others; individuals soaked or soled bedding or clothes Sexual abuse: reoccurring urine and genital infection, proactive sexual behaviour, abdomen pain- no diagnosis Emotional/psychological abuse: low self-esteem or lack of confidence and anxiety, sleep disturbance, increased levels of confusion Financial abuse: bills not being paid, unusual or inappropriate financial transactions Institutional abuse: poor hygiene, no choices, treating adults like children, poor standards off staff training and knowledge Self- neglect: gaining of weight or lost off weight, dirty clothes, being ignored, lack of support from staff Neglect by others: inadequate or inappropriate clothing, untreated medical problems, lack of personal care, dirty clothing/ bedding
