Outcome 1
1. My duties and responsibilities as a support worker are to, prepare meals for residents, to support residents with room cleans, to prompt residents with their personal care, attend appointments with the residents, to support going out into the community with the residents, to support with personal shopping, to handle the safe/medication keys when senior is not on shift, to be in control of residents money when senior is not on shift, to complete medication rounds at set times of the day and to fill out residents daily notes and diary tabs on Caresys.
2. We follow the policies and procedures that have been set out by the company (Potens) and CSSIW (Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales)
3. At the beginning of employment staff, go on training like equality and diversity, this training teaches you the sort of attitude that is expected when working within the resident’s home, staff should also have the right attitude towards working with the residents, they shouldn’t be seen to be negative in anyway. If staff do have a problems they should go see their manager and talk about it and make a plan of action to be able to work through the issue.
Outcome 2
1. Reflecting on both good and bad practice is the best way to develop your knowledge and skills, because if you are getting good feedback then you know to continue working in that manner, whereas if you get poor feedback then you know where you need to improve and look to build on that straight away.
Outcome 3
1. You can set up a personal development plan either just on your own and work your way through it, or with your manager during a supervision meeting, you can talk about what you want to achieve and then discuss with your manager how you are going to achieve this.
2. You would approach your manager and discuss what you would want to achieve, this would then be drawn up in a personal development plan and you can then discuss how you are going to achieve this.
