Harriet Tubman was born when slavery was major in the 1800s (1820-1822 is believed to be when she was born, but no slaves were told their actual birthday) She had tons of work to do at such a young age, even being whipped if she didn’t do her work. At one point, she and a few other slaves decided they wanted to escape. They got out and made it to freedom in Philadelphia, but she didn’t want to stop there. Throughout time, Tubman saved over 70-80 slaves! It’s pretty impressive for someone that was a slave. As mentioned, Harriet Tubman broke from slavery and saved some of her fellow slaves. She went the extra mile to save her own family! Harriet Tubman is far superior to Andrew Jackson because she did so much and helped so many people, while on the other hand, more of Jackson’s contributions hurt, more than helped. Harriet Tubman had a brave, courageous, adventurous spirit, while Jackson was tough in the battle of 1812 gaining the nickname “Old Hickory,” his cons outweigh the pros.
