Response: I have been a professor for sixteen years.
Question 2: Why did you come to UM? Where have you worked prior to coming to the University?
Response: I came to UMD my undergraduate because it was the most affordable thing around. I came back again for my graduate because I was already familiar with the campus and I had professors that I wanted to work with. I never taught anywhere besides UMD. I began teaching here because an opportunity came my way and I enjoy learning and teaching the subject, so I took it.

Response: I believe that if you have a passion for the subject you teach and compassion, you will be a good professor.
Question 6: What honors/awards have you received?
Response: I received a teaching award about ten years ago.
Question 7: What would you like for students to get out of the classes you teach?
Response: I would want them not to listen to everything they see on television, instead I would want them to think critically about the information being presented to them and be careful with the bits of information they choose to listen to. I would also want them to respect the truth.
Question 8: What misconceptions, if any so students have about you or about college professors/TAs in general?
Response: Many students coming into African American Studies believe that if you are black, you will receive an “A” and if you are white, you will receive a failing grade. Why did you choose to interview this particular professor/instructor/TA?
I choose to interview this particular professor because to me he seemed the most approachable. My other professor is for my class with many students and the TA for that course to me does not seem approachable.
2. Why do you think it is important to get to know your professors/TAs?
It is important to get to know your professors because they may be more willing to write a letter of recommendation for you later on in life and they may also provide you advice or information that can be helpful in the field you are studying. Also you will enjoy the class more because you will be more willing to ask questions in class, allowing you to understand the subject more.

I was a little shocked while interviewing my professor because during the interview he was calmer than he usually is in class. In class he always makes jokes and is just goofy. Talking to him was easier than I expected because I thought he was going to making jokes but he was really straight to the
