When Lennie was feeling Curley’s Wife’s hair, he said, “Oh, that's nice!” (Steinbeck 91). Lennie truthfully had not meant to kill Curley’s wife. After Lennie had killed her, he was paralyzed in fear. He whispered in fright, “I done another bad thing…” (Steinbeck 91). This evidence shows that Lennie did not mean to murder Curley’s wife. Some may argue that George was correct to shoot Lennie because all the things he had done like with Curley’s wife, the mice, and Slim’s puppo. However, Lennie was just a big innocent guy that liked soft things. Lennie said, “Why you got to get killed?” (Steinbeck 91) as the dead puppo lay in his lap. George knew that Lennie never wanted to hurt Curley’s wife, he was just trying to feel her hair and he had panicked. Lennie shouldn't have been shot, and it pained Lennie especially since he was the one forced to do so. He only touched Curley’s wife because she wanted him to feel how soft her hair was; plus with Lennie loving to feel anything soft he went for the kill ;).
