What Does It Mean To Say America Is The Land Where Dreams Come True

“Once stated by Geraldine Ferraro on July 19, 1984, he stated, “America is the land where dreams come true for all of us” (Ferraro 2). In this case, I believe he is right. The speeches used for this essay are one, Geraldine’s nomination speech, and second, John F. Kennedy’s Inaugural Address on January 20, 1961. America is a place of dreams coming true because of our freedom, the energy and faith of our peoples, and because of our rights.
America is a place where dreams come true because of Americas freedom. Freedom is a big part of American lives and we can use that to follow and accomplish our dreams. “I recall the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who made America stronger by making America freer” (Ferraro 2). Rights are a big part of our dreams. Without them we wouldn’t have limits to our imagination. But rights give us a step forward to accomplishing our dreams. “… unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this Nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world” (Kennedy 2). This is a great quote because it explains that we use and fight for our rights because they keep America in order. And in the process, create a way for us to follow our dreams. Another quote was, “Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans” (Kennedy 2). This is a quote that has to be thought through but to me it is saying that America is handing the torch which is our rights and freedom to the next generation which is giving our generation or ones in past/ future have rights with them. Because of theses right s being passed down we can follow our dreams. Well some people might argue that our dreams can be fulfilled without any rights. And that we don’t need to struggles through life so that accomplishing our dreams comes easy. Well I say that that is bologna, we have a chose don’t blame it on the rights or how hard it is for you all I hear is whining not doing which you could be following your dream with how long your holding on to the thought that it is impossible.
