What I Learned From Lord Of The Flies
I’m Ralph and my experience stranded on an island was terrible, but helpful. It has been ten years since a group of boys and I got rescued from the island. We were stranded, lost and hopeless. We tried to help each other out and work together, but it was really hard. No one wanted to do anything. My friend Piggy (who I met on the island) and I did most of the work. I was the captain of the boys. I was in charge of them and everything else. It was stressing and I hardly got to rest. I don’t like remembering my experience there. I came close to dying, but the worst part of that was that I saw people die. Being on the island without adult supervision and rules affected many boys. I’m tormented by what happened on the island. I learned some things from being stuck there. Being there was like a nightmare. I wish that I …show more content…
I realized that I need to be grateful. I was saved from dying which mean that I got a second chance. I learned that I need to value what I have because some don’t have anything. On the island I had nothing. We ate fruits more than half of the time. I learned that I need to be a good person. I was saved for a reason. I got an opportunity to change and become a better person. At first, I was afraid. I wanted to go home because I hated being stuck. As time passed, I began to adapt to the routines of life on the island. I was still a little scared, but I was stronger and braver. Being on the island made me become strong and fearless man. The situation was probably one of the scariest things ever. I was lucky to have survived. Now, I’m thankful to whom saved. In these ten years, I’ve been working closely with the navy and a rescue team. I want to help people in situations like the one I was in. I risk my life almost every day to save people. I don’t want anyone to suffer like I did on the island. I want to be like a hero and save everyone who is in danger or

Ray Bradbury, writer of the “There Will Come Soft Rains”, discusses a story of a family owning a futuristic home that reminds them of their daily events and is specifically scheduled to perform chores chronologically throughout the day. In the short story, Bradbury’s use of simile provides the readers with a projection of the overall tone of the narrative. To begin, a quite striking simile is used, “The fire backed off, as even an elephant must at the sight of a dead snake (bradbury 3)”. By comparing the fire with an elephant, a clear image can be created in the reader’s mind on what exactly took place. The readers can easily understand the fear that an elephant might have toward a snake, which then creates a fearful and discomforting tone.…

Unlike Brian though I wasn’t starving, in pain, and I could go back inside my house when I wanted. I was fascinated by people who would live in the woods without electricity, running water and other modern conveniences. Now I think it's amazing how some people can survive in the wild with just themselves. It would take an extremely skilled and talented person to do this. I was greatly impacted by the scene painted in my head by the section in chapter four where the fish started jumping all over the lake and how beautiful it was, and when Brian tried spear fishing for the first time he learned that the reflection of the fish made them look like they were higher than they actually were.…

Some of the things I learned were how to balance a checkbook, how to run a business, and how to budget my time and finances. Along with those real life skills a learned some metaphoric skills as well. I learned that you can’t just plant a seed and it will grow. To start with, you have to have a good foundation, which is the right type of soil. This all applies to life; you have to start with a good foundation if you want to succeed in life.…
