A large part of my role is to promote appropriate behaviour and respect for others; all students are told on induction day that inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated within the college. One of the easiest ways I have found to promote this is to model my own behaviour to show students how they should behave within the college environment, I always speak to the students politely, addressing them correctly and I listen to them when they are speaking, rather than speak over them or stop them in mid sentence. I have found that by creating a space where people feel…
There are codes of conduct set for specific areas also; “in class”, “around school”, “think before we act or speak” and “care for the environment”. Some of the rules include being punctual, listening to others, work quietly, use equipment carefully, dress appropriately, be helpful and friendly, share, be polite, not to use swear words, tell the truth, apologise for bad actions, respect other people's property, walk around school.…

The Student Code of Academic Integrity is important in the learning environment because it gives a set of guidelines for any educational institution. Academic goals cannot be met without following the standards set by the Student Code of Conduct or the Student Code of Academic…
When looking at leadership from a trait approach, several solid characteristics exist. One of those characteristics is personality. Personality is important especially in the work place and can set the tone of the environment. For example, if a manager/leader has a positive attitude and approach to employees during a situation then the outcome will be positive. When employees are happy and working in positive atmosphere achievements and goals are accomplished. An additional strength of the trait approach is that the approach provides a deep understanding of what makes an individual successful as a leader. This will help future theorists because he or she will have a list of traits that predict leadership.…

The Hiding Place opens in 1937 with the ten Boom family celebrating the 100th anniversary of their watch and repair business, now run by the family 's elderly father, Casper. The business took up the ground floor of the family home, known as the Beje. Casper lived with his unmarried daughters Corrie, the watchmaker, and Betsie, who took care of the house. It seemed as if everyone in the Dutch town of Haarlem had shown up to the party, including Corrie 's sister Nollie, her brother, Willem, and her nephews Peter and Kik. Willem, a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church, brought a Jewish man who had just escaped from Germany as a guest. The man 's beard had been burned off by thugs, a grim reminder of what was happening just to the east of Holland. Then, in 1940, the Nazis invaded Holland.…
An academic honor code or honor system is a set of rules or ethical principles governing a community based on ideals that define what constitutes honorable behavior within that community. The use of an honor code depends on the notion that people can be trusted to act honorably. Those who are in violation of the honor code can be subject to various sanctions, including expulsion from the institution. Honor codes are used to deter academic…
It is very important for teachers to develop a classroom management plan to help provide students with proper guidance related to the operation of the classroom setting. Students must learn how to act in an appropriate and acceptable manner with their teacher and peers. Providing students with guidelines for those interactions is an essential task so as to insure that the classroom operates at an optimum level daily. The classroom management plan should help to promote positive student behavior by clearly delineating those behaviors which are inappropriate and unacceptable for the classroom. In the textbook titled “Classroom Management for Academic Success” which was written by Lee Canter, the author states, “The foundation of any teacher-student relationship is respect. To build trusting relationships with all of your students, your students must respect you” (p. 90). He further states, “Effective teachers recognize that building trusting relationships with student’s means putting in the time and effort to get…
Social Justices in the classroom is on major obstacle a teacher has to deal with and teach students about the difference each an every student. One issues are teachers need to be considerate of many different aspects of their students ' lives, such as religion, language, racial and different learning style. A politically supported classroom will be welcoming and accepting all students. Within a socially just room, there are specific rules to help the students feel at ease in the room. These rules also help to avoid any confrontations among the students. There is also the idea of inclusion, which allows a student to include in classroom discussions, work and groups…
Academic Integrity is an impressive-sounding word. The word can refer to a broad spectrum of actions, most of the time we use it to mean “don’t plagiarize,” or don’t pass off other’s ideas and information as your own. In those words, acknowledge the specific information that you get from sources, whether those sources are online or printed articles or books, interviews, online discussions, information from your sources’ ideas and information at all times. Academic integrity involves not only acknowledging your sources, but also creating your own ideas. Webster's dictionary defines integrity as "uncompromising adherence (meaning that one would always choose the “right” path, regardless of what seems to be more appealing) to a code of moral,…
“Hey! You in the back turn around! Yes, you, turn around! All right then, now that everyone is here, we can get started. I know that none of you want to be here, but I am here to change your minds, more like change your lives. Doesn’t everyone like story time?” He says. The room seems to be empty, but then again it just so happens to be filled with 15 of New York’s finest delinquents. “I’m not asking you to give me a limb, but I’m just asking for you to listen to me. I only get half an hour before you get carted back to wherever they keep you, so let’s get started.” He exclaims. After seeing the group of kids he got today, he thinks to himself, oh god, how I am going to convince these kids to change their ways. There is no way I can, but I can always give it a shot. “I was going to start with ‘Once upon a time’ but I know you don’t care for that very much, so I’ll start from the beginning. It all started when I was real young, well actually right around your age. I was your typical dorky Boy Scout, but then again, I really wasn’t. I wasn’t really ‘Normal’ by anyone’s standards. I was on par with everyone else my age in my troop. I was in a few honor’s classes, but not too many to make me a nerd. What balanced all of this dorkiness out was that I played three sports and was good at them too. But this is not a story about my life as a child, it’s about something else. Something all of you need.”…
“The value that we place on education should be reflected in our response to academic misconduct. In the absence of mitigating factors we recommend that an F for the course should be the minimum appropriate response for deliberate violations.” (http://www.eiu.edu/judicial/acadishonest.php , Eastern Illinois’s Academic Integrity webpage)…
