What is cheating?
What is cheating?
There is a fine line between flirting and cheating. What counts as cheating differs from person to person. In the majority of people’s eyes engaging in sexual intercourse with a person other than your partner is considered being unfaithful. Sleeping with someone other than your partner is a betrayal of trust and commitment that you have made to your other half. It hurts the person being cheated on emotionally and makes them feel worthless.
Other sexual behaviours such as cybersex or ‘hot chat’, whether it be with the same person regularly, different strangers regularly or just the one time is generally considered cheating. Although you are not physically engaging in sexually activity, you are still breaking down trust and emotionally hurting your partner.
Sharing deep and intimate information with somebody online or offline is not necessarily infidelity but there is a fine line. Sharing intimate information with a friend either on or offline is an acceptable behaviour if you trust your friend. Although your partner may not be happy with you divulging personal information to a friend, it is not generally considered to be cheating. However if you are sharing intimate information in a flirtatious way with someone who you do not know very well and are of the opposite sex, it more than likely would be viewed as wrong.
Actions such as visiting strip clubs and watching pornography are controversial. Visiting a strip club and watching pornography online or in magazines is not considered being unfaithful in many people’s eyes although some individual people may be emotionally hurt and betrayed if their partner participated in such things. However, viewing porn that has been sent by email would be viewed as infidelity as it has been personally sent to someone and the likely hood is that the recipient is engaging in some sort of sexual relationship that their partner is not aware of.
A non-sexual relationship on or offline is not cheating as it is not sexual or deeply emotional. It is more likely that a person has more non-sexual relationships offline than online but neither is generally considered to be cheating.

Pornography paints a picture of a relationship that is not realistic for the overwhelming majority of the population. In most cases of pornographic media, there is one partner in the scene that holds control or dominance, and there seems to be no emotional connection between the two or more actors. In short, pornography only presents one side of a normal relationship: the sexual side. In reality, this side of a relationship should be less important or symbolic than the emotional connection between two or more people for a healthful relation.…

In the story Marquis talks about a married couple in a bad relationship. In many cases most people would get a divorce if their relationship broke down to an extent where they could no longer be around each other. But in some cases as Marquis said, that is not the best option for the married couple. Sometimes a married couple has younger children or even teenagers who would be dreadfully hurt if their parents split up. The married couple fears the worst for the kids and stays together for this reason. If they both agree that they cannot satisfy each other’s sexual desires, then what is wrong if they both agree to get that sexual happiness with someone else? If a woman knows and accepts that if her husband is a happier person if he does this, than I believe it is ok. An outside individual might scream this is wrong, but that third party is not in the contract between the married couple. If the couple mutually agrees that those actions would be the best for each one of them and even the best for their immediate family then I believe that adultery is morally permissible in this instance.…
