Towards the end of the episode, he displays a great deal of maturity. He learns to use his powers for the benefit of himself and other people. Clark sees Jeremy, the boy who was the scarecrow his freshman year, preparing to electrocute everyone in the homecoming dance. Clark warningly says to Jeremy, “I won’t let you hurt my friends.” Clark chases Jeremy around trying to prevent him from electrocuting everyone. Jeremy even tries to run Clark over with his car. Anything Jeremy does, Clark is stronger. Clark saves everyone from Jeremy’s wrath. In fact, Clark saved Smallville from Jeremy in general because through his actions Jeremy eventually became electrocuted and forgot who he was. He also lost his ability to electrocute people, so Jeremy was a normal person again, thanks to Clark. In doing this, Clark is using his powers to help others. He is no longer an innocent confused teenager, he understands his purpose and why he is on this
