What Gabler fails to do is define entertainment. What may be considered entertaining for Taylor Swift may have been considered boring by Albert Einstein. And what may be fun for Nicki Minaj may have been considered a waste of time by Gregor Mendel. Different people seek different forms of entertainment, although throughout any form, as with anything in life, there is an upside and a downside. Music can be relaxing and soothing; but play it too loud and it harms your hearing. Watch the History channel and learn a thing or two, or watch Jersey Shore and become influenced by their outlandish behavior.…

Entertainment media has had a profound effect on the way American culture has evolved. It has at times brought people together and equally torn them apart. Music, television, and film provide an incomparable outlet for expression. They allow individuals (and groups) to inform, to share what is important to them, to be creative and innovative. With all of the different types of entertainment media in America, society is exposed to so much more than would have been possible without these mediums.…

Entertainment can also be a form of education. But not a boring way but a useful tool to help keep interest on a possibly boring subject. For example, watching a documentary on Napoleon Bonaparte would be much more entertaining learning experience than a dull class-long lecture from Mr. Reyes. People who keep up to date on the news and worldwide events, they are educating themselves in the form of entertainment. Someone could be reading an article that includes pictures about the San…

Why did I use such a broad category like entertainment? Because I would miss all forms of entertainment. Music, television, and social media play an important role in my life. Music and television are undoubtedly my weaknesses. As I go to sleep, I listen to music; during my preparation for a new day; I have music playing; my car rides are always filled with some genre of music. Then after a long day of school, I come home and walk straight to my television with a purpose, as Mrs. Deidre Hester would describe it. My educational responsibilities are quickly disregarded as soon as I find a program to watch. If there is nothing entertaining showing, do I begin on my school work? No. I find other activities to engage in, whether it be social media surfing, or eating. Therefore, no entertainment is equal to boredom I my opinion. Being trapped on an island with none whatsoever can be good and bad. The bad part is the possibility of boring my life away, and the good thing is that it gives me the opportunity to focus and meditate on…

Entertainment has provided society with an escape from reality, which at times may be very stressful and chaotic. Fast entertainment is the center of everyone 's day, maybe its music, television, internet, or your cell phone. We are all seeking and craving entertainment all throughout the day. Entertainment today has become a skyrocket business. Mostly everything in our lives has something to do with entertainment. Certain forms of entertainment have overtaken the lives of society as a whole and it seems all morality has been lost and sucked into this world of entertainment. The question I have been asking myself is, has entertainment taken over society? A lot of people think entertainment is not harming too society in any way, but I have many reasons why I think society could be better if we didn’t rely so much on entertainment. As Craig Watkins writes in the essay, fast entertainment and multitasking in an always-on world, “like fast food, fast entertainment is easy to get, all around us, and typically cheap, but not always good for you.” (Watkins 143)…
