What Is Integrity?
What is integrity? Integrity is defined as the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. Integrity is the state of being whole and undivided. It is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes. It’s regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one’s actions. Integrity is to be consistent. Consistency is about being the same regardless of the situation. It’s a choice that people make every day, even when the situation is not the best. Honesty and accuracy require thought from the heart and good intentions. To be consistent with these traits with behavior, actions, and words is to have true and authentic integrity. People often refer to integrity as honesty; however, there is more to integrity than honesty. It seems to be a simple trait to add to one’s personality, but it requires a lot of work. If one decides to claim integrity, one must realize doing so will modify his or her regular principles. This will affect one’s way of living tremendously, depending on his or her previous lifestyle. For example, one with integrity understands the real meaning of integrity. One’s integrity reflects what he or she says, behaves, and makes decisions. The way one does this should not be forced, but represent and reflect one’s true values and beliefs at heart. No matter what the situations one is put in, he or she is the same unique and real person throughout. Those in which have integrity have the willpower to bring out the integrity in others. On the other hand, integrity is not dishonesty. It’s not a disposition to lie, cheat, or steal. Integrity is not a dishonest act and it’s not deceit or trickery. Integrity isn’t ingenuity or inventiveness. It’s not a contrivance or an expedient. Integrity is when one is nowhere near to lacking honesty in any way, shape, or
