What Is Locus Of Control
The idea of locus of control was proposed by Rotter in 1966, which is the belief by some people that they have the control over their own lives. People with an internal locus of control believe that they have control over what happens in their life and that it all happens due to their own behaviour. Whereas other people with external locus of control believe that what happens to them is controlled by external factors and that they completely don't have any control over their own lives. Rotters conclusion was that people with internal locus of control are more likely to obey to or conform compared to people with external locus of control.

Locus of control is what people perceive what their everyday outcomes will be. If a person has an internal locus then, they believe that they are in control of themselves and the influence of the world around them. A person with an external locus feels as though they cannot control the things that happen to them and the world around them. I, myself, have an internal locus because I believe that my actions control my life. If I do not work hard at something, I have only myself to blame for the outcome that I get.…

When it comes to my locus of control I believe that I have an internal locus of control. I believe you are in charge of your own destination. Too many times in life people want to blame their failures on things that may have happened to them as children or because someone else is responsible for stopping them from their success. I believe that if you have goals you want to achieve you can achieve those goals. It may not happen right away and may take hard work but successful people do not quit when the going gets…

The need for self-control applies to me greatly, I always have to have my own life in order and make my own choices. Being told what to do can be very challenging for me because I feel the need to make my own decisions constantly. However, I cannot relate to the need of controlling others. In social situations I am never the one to make the decisions or control the situation, this is something I need to work on, so that I can have a voice and more control over my own…

Internal social control is the process of internalizing the norms of society and accepting them as valid (Chriss, 2007). This form of social control operates through the process of socialization. Individuals learn and adopt the norms of the society within the society. There are factors (or agents) that help in this process. One is the family. The family helps their children internalize the norms of the society they are apart of. If they fail at this, it may lead to behaviors that the society deems deviant. As the child grows he or she is introduced to other agents such as school, friends and of course the media. When the individual accepts the norms determined by the society in which they live as valid, the person will feels guilty if they engage in behavior outside of these norms that society deems wrong.…

Two theories developed. The first is the theory of conformism, which explores the central correlation between an individual and the group to which they belong. It names the group is the individual’s model for behavior. The second concept is the agentic state theory. The agentic theory is that the subject comes to see himself or herself as an instrument of another person or an institution. They stop feeling responsible for their actions. Once that happens the person is obedient.…

I am well rounded, independent, and unique. I believe that being well rounded means that you are not just one way or another. It means you have a little bit of every thing. I think that independent means for a person to be out on their own in life. It means to be able to take care of them selves in life, along with other people. I am independent not interdependent. I do not rely on others for any thing. Meaning I do not get help with bills, money, school, child, car, or any other aspect in life. Interdependent means you get help from others or depend on other to do things for you. I think that self serving bias is some thing that every one has to some degree or another. I think that it is a bias opinion that enhances or widens your ego or self esteem. For me I am self bias towards my self in the fact that I am a very vain person. I believe I am very attractive meaning my self esteem is great about how I look when others are around. Locus of control theory is where people believe that they can control events that can affect them. External locus of control is a person that believes the whole world is out to get them, luck does exist, and that life is unfair. Internal locus of control is when a person has feelings of being responsible for the outcomes that happen in their lives.…

Upon finishing the two exercises, I have concluded that external locus of control plays a huge part in my life. I found multiple correlations between the two scores, I have always taken everything lightly and I have procrastinated until the last minute to do things, I have told lies on why I couldn’t do the work multiple times to my instructors, I lack motivation to follow through with my plan of action (Trust me I have made a lot of those). I feel like something is missing from my life which makes me feel empty, honestly I don’t even know if I have external or internal locus of control. I know what I’m doing wrong but I can’t seem to fix it.…
